Your donations help people find good jobs.
Every 42 seconds of every business day, someone gets a job ? and achieves economic stability and builds strong families and communities ? with help from you and Goodwill®.
Last year, more than 64 million people donated to Goodwill. Goodwill accepts your new or gently used items ? like clothing, appliances, electronics and furniture ? and sells them in our well-known Goodwill retail stores. There are more than 2,300 Goodwill donation locations in the United States and Canada.
The sales of your donations help fund job training programs, employment placement services and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities, lack education or job experience, or face employment challenges.
Goodwill donors may also choose to make a financial contribution.
Regardless of how you contribute, we are grateful for your support. Thanks to your donations, in 2008, Goodwill was able to provide 1.5 million people with career services.
Goodwill encourages you to donate wisely.
Before you give, Goodwill urges you to find out more about the charities you'd like to support. Be certain the organization uses its revenue for charitable purposes that support a broader mission.
Some thrift stores solicit donations under the name of a charity, but as little as 5 percent of the money generated from these donations may actually go to the charity. At Goodwill, 84 percent of our revenues are used to fund our employment and training programs. Goodwill is consistently ranked among top charities that make your donations go further.
